Most often called the parable of the Prodigal Son, a better name would be The Forgiving Father.

This parable illustrates God’s forgiveness, even in the face of willful disobedience. When we come to God with a truthful apology He forgives. He knows you and I make mistakes so He lovingly provides forgiveness when we do. Jesus Christ’s shed blood provided this for us by God’s grace.

If you are a parent you know the love and forgiveness you have for your child. God does no less for us.
